Aeroworks 75cc YAK54 Quickbuild Thread
I finally got everything in for the build start. Going with the ZDZ Super 80. HiTec 5945s in the wings and elevators, JR8711 for the rudder (have not determined if it's going to be rudder pull-pull or push-pull). Digital metal gears for throttle and choke.
For the Super 80s exhaust I'm going with the JMB 80mm cannister with 30mm JMB header. Here are my initial pics.
More progress to come ASAP.

Looks like a nice clean job there Chas !! [)]
Make sure those servo trays are not rubbing on the tank in the front corners. Looks a little close. A little Velcro pad might make a nice buffer if they are rubbing.
Keep the progress reports and pic's coming !!
BTW, did you use one servo on the inboard aileron slot only or did you stick with 2 per wing ??

Yes the gas tank is rubbing the servo trays. I agree that I need to glue something in there for a buffer. I've made a small bit more progress, and I'll likely get those pics posted this weekend sometime.

I'm surprised that someone living in cummings, GA, does not get the Extreme Flight Yak 110'.
You can go a pick it up from them locally and save a ton on shipping.
It flies great on a DA-85, so the ZDZ would not be a stretch...

Yes, you know I considered that in earnest. I really like the way Chris' planes look and fly, but I just was not sure about putting the ZDZ Super 80 on the Extreme Flight YAK. I was hearing all kind of good things about the Aeroworks Quickbuilds, and the exhaust cannister tunnel sold me.

Niteman,
I forgot to answer your question about the wing aileron servos. I'm going with two per wing, HiTec 5945MGs with SWB servo arms and Hangar9 titanium Pro Links. I will be using the Aeroworks supplied ball links since they appear to be of decent quality.

...a little more progress on the YAK54. That battery pack is a Li-Ion 7.4v 4400maH pack. I have alot of these cells if anyone is finding them hard to come by these days (there is a worldwide shortage right now).

...slowly but surely...more progress on the YAK54. Tail feathers with elevator servos, linkage and control horns. Tail wheel assembled as well. Wish I would have went with the REAL Aerobatics Concepts Tailwheel springs rather than the ones I bought and installed from Aero Protect. The Hamilton knock offs are just too heavy copared to the lighter Aerobatic Concepts Tailwheel springs. Good thing I'm not a good enough 3D pilot to tell the difference, he he.

You loop the vent line so that fuel does not leak out in downlines. The vent line on gas engines run directly to the atmosphere, so there is a possibility that fuel can escape through the vent line if not looped around the back of the tank.
The line inside the tank is usually the same as the line outside the tank. I use either Tygon, or even better, Aerotrend. 1/8" ID.

RE: Aeroworks 75cc YAK54 Quickbuild Thread
Well I finally got around to flying the YAK on July 4th, just a few weeks ago. I've been so busy that I've neglected my build thread here on RCU.
Accept my apologies mates.
The YAK flies great, and I've noticed that it seems to "float" better being slightly tail heavy. The AW assembly manual calls for the CG to be 3.5" aft of the wing leading edge, but that model flys substantially better with the CG being 1-2in. forward of that location, say 1.5" to 2.5" aft of wing leading edge.
Here are some pics of my cowl with a home-made carbon fiber air dam to help cool the ZDZ Super80 engine. The carbon fiber panel was purchased online from composite envisions (.com).
