Default -RIO PROBLEM-

Hello guys,

To be honest I'm getting a little frustrated, so I'm looking for some advice. I have a Rio with an RCMK, and it straight up kicks some tail with power. The issue I am having is this; When I go into a corner, if I'm over 1/2 throttle, the back end will spin out. It seems as if I can not get it to "stick" in the corners.

I have my prop one deg. up, and the motor is as low as it can go. Last night I had a giant spin out followed by a barrel roll witch resulted in a partial sinking!!

ANY AND ALL ADVICE WELCOME!!!

Thanks,

Any turn fins? pics of the rear, etc, would help. Check the center of gravity. I would also add some flotation for extra insurance until the prob is fixed.

Here are some pics... Prop is about 1 deg up, and turn fins are 90 degrees from bottom of the boat...

1. Set both your turn fins further back. Use the flat bottom of the fins to match your hull line (Neutral setting).
2. Set your rudder leading edge to match turn fine leading edge.
3. Set your stinger to neutral as well (in-line with the keel line).
4. Put those trim tabs back on and set them flat with the hull as well.

This is my Rio 51 with everything on Neutral setting.

Do you have any photos or video running. Like the look from what we can see without those stock decals.

Does it do it with a 2 blade prop?? A 3 blade can cause lift & prop walk. Just a thought.

check for the rudder servo response. if its jerkings fast into the turn it will do exactly what you desribe no matter where else everything is set. it should respond gently as it turns if it jerks really quick when you turn the wheel you can adjust it with the radio/trans.

Both my Rio's would spin out whenever I had the stinger up even just a little! Keeping things flat with the keel as mentioned a post or two before always made turns at full speed smooth. You may also have a look at that rudder servo. If it's stock, than it's junk. Had two fail on me before switching to a MUCH higher torque servo.......which also gave a significantly better steering response.

Thanks for the tips, I will get everything to neutral and try it out....

I do have a Futaba s3305 MG BB stering servo, wich is really nice and smooth...

Would C.O.G. be kicking my Rio's butt?? I've never checked that. Maybe this is all a case of a dumb owner!! [:@]

My CG point is the stock location of the kill switch.
