RE: Rio 51z ( buy or not to buy)
Auhh it's not that bad.
I have one with just under a gallon on it.
No problems.
But when I bought it I knew ofit's issues.
-Stripped all components from the hull.
-Reglass the motor rails and epoxed sealed
interior of the hull.
- Sealed all the hardware as I remounted everything.
- Installed new radio gear,5 cell battery, remote kill switch.
-changed outthe muffler mounting bolts.
- checked the fuel tank for leaks and cleaned up the outlets.
- changed to larger dia. water lines.
This all took about 4.5 hours mostly waiting for the epoxy to set.
Cost was under $20.
So far it's held up too a couple rolls and a one end over.
Ohhh.... I did add just a couple extra goodies
But the cost of a "quality" RTRBoat up here is almost double what you pay
down south. Thisis about $900 cnd. plus I made some back on the stock radio gear.
That still leaves me $ for upgrades as needed or wanted.
So there ya go.

RE: Rio 51z ( buy or not to buy)
Thank you all for you help.
I think I will wait for a while before I spend all that money. I am new to Rc boating but I am not new to Rc. I am thinking of getting the new traxxax Titan as a start into Rc boating and then go to the rio.

i get the whole tighten up a few loose bolts and go over a new boat car plane but to have to strip the thing down and glass and reasemble the thing and for the $$$ i think this is just wrong as you can build a compleet kit for only a little more cash and have a way better boat maby the should list it as a kit that you build yourself then people would know what they are getting themself into i just repaired one for my gf brother a gift from his gf i was able to get it fixed before his birthday he is happy with the boat and his gf is happy that it worked out but was upset with the hobby shop for not saying anything about the KNOWN problems and the fact that the manufacture even allow them to be sold like this
